Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals and couples better understand the emotional and relational patterns that shape the way they connect with themselves and others.

Many people find themselves caught in recurring cycles of conflict, emotional distance, disconnection, anxiety, people-pleasing, withdrawal, or difficulty expressing their needs. Often, these patterns are rooted in deeper attachment needs, emotional wounds, and learned ways of protecting themselves within relationships.

EFT focuses on helping people move beyond reactive patterns and toward greater emotional awareness, vulnerability, safety, and connection.

Rather than simply addressing surface-level conflict or communication issues, EFT helps uncover the deeper emotions and unmet needs underneath those experiences. Through this process, individuals and couples can begin creating more secure, connected, and emotionally responsive relationships.

At The Therapy Cove, we integrate EFT in a warm, collaborative, and emotionally attuned way—helping clients better understand their emotional experiences while developing healthier patterns of connection, communication, and relational safety.

EFT can help individuals and couples:

  • Strengthen emotional connection

  • Improve communication and conflict patterns

  • Better understand attachment dynamics

  • Heal relational wounds and disconnection

  • Increase emotional awareness and vulnerability

  • Reduce cycles of withdrawal, defensiveness, or reactivity

  • Create greater trust, safety, and intimacy in relationships

We believe meaningful healing often happens within the context of safe and authentic connection. EFT helps clients move beyond survival patterns within relationships and toward deeper emotional security, connection, and understanding.
