Taryn Van Vliet, AMFT
Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT121669)
Taryn Van Vliet is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, currently working toward licensure in California. She earned her master’s degree in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy from the Graduate School of Education and Counseling at Lewis & Clark College.
Taryn works with adolescents and adults navigating trauma, eating disorders, and relational challenges. Her clinical background includes experience in both trauma recovery and eating disorder treatment, where she has supported individuals with complex clinical needs while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary treatment teams.
During her internship at an Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy clinic, Taryn worked with a women’s trauma recovery group and an adolescent psychosocial group, utilizing relational and systemic approaches to support healing, connection, and growth. After returning to California, she continued this work as a primary therapist for adults experiencing eating disorders, further deepening her experience with complex and layered presentations.
Taryn’s approach is grounded in relational and systemic therapy, with a focus on the belief that healing happens in connection — both within relationships with others and in the relationship we have with ourselves. Her work centers on helping clients increase self-awareness, strengthen their sense of agency and voice, and develop more intentional ways of engaging in their lives.
Clients often describe Taryn’s approach as warm, collaborative, and deeply respectful. She is committed to creating a therapeutic space where clients feel safe to explore difficult experiences, gain insight, and move toward meaningful and lasting change.
